Biography

Mengyao He is currently a Doctoral Candidate (DC) in Information Systems at IE Business School. She received a master’s degree in Operations Research from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Economics from the University of Washington. Mengyao is interested in the responsible application, development, and impact of AI algorithms, with a particular focus on blockchain-related problems using multidisciplinary research methods. She aims for her research to have a real-world impact.

Motivation for the PhD

Mengyao chose to pursue a PhD to deepen her expertise in machine learning and its applications in industry. Her goal is to contribute to advancements in data science, particularly in areas like blockchain, by developing innovative solutions that are both theoretically sound and practically relevant. She believes that a PhD will enable her to achieve this by providing the rigorous academic training and research opportunities necessary to push the boundaries of current knowledge.

She is particularly attracted to the opportunity to gain knowledge from both academic research and practical industry experiences.
