Biography

Chaouki Kouritii is currently a Doctoral Candidate (DC) at VU, specializing in the management of blockchain technology. His academic journey began in Cyprus, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Following this, he gained valuable experience working in logistics in Morocco. He then pursued further education in the UK, earning his first master’s degree in Data Science from the University of Sunderland. He completed a  second master’s degree in research in Management and Innovation through a joint program between Skema Business School and Université Côte d’Azur in France.

Chaouki’s passion for blockchain technology was ignited through his close attention to the rise of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in 2017. This interest deepened further when he began investing in NFTs in 2021.

Motivation for the PhD

Chaouki is pursuing a PhD because he is passionate about deepening his knowledge in emerging technologies, particularly blockchain technology and its transformative potential. He aims to explore how this technology can address real-world problems and drive innovation. His long-term goal is to become a thought leader in this field, contributing to both academia and industry, and helping to shape the future of decentralized technologies.

Chaouki was motivated to join the DIEM consortium due to its commitment to fostering innovation and supporting doctoral candidates in transforming knowledge into practical solutions. This aligns perfectly with his long-term goals in the field of blockchain.

Football has been a life-changing passion for Chaouki Kouritii, leading to scholarships in Cyprus and the UK, where he balanced academics and sport. He also plays bass guitar and enjoys jamming with friends, finding creativity and relaxation in music.

Chaouki has climbed the second highest mountain peak in Africa and the highest peak in Georgia.
